Here is a link to our GoPaddling site: https://gopaddling.info/ – On here you can search the local rivers and canals to your area by using Paddlepoints. Each waterway will bring up a map and underneath the map it will show whether you need a licence or not and whether it is covered under the British Canoeing membership.

If you go to our GoPadding site (https://gopaddling.info/) and scroll down half way, there are some guide videos which include safety, tides/weather and choosing the right kit.

  • Coaching FAQs

  • When do I register?

For Paddlesport Instructor and Leadership Awards you should register 2 weeks before your assessment. For Coach Award you can register at any point across your training. We recommend that this is done at the latest a few weeks before your assessment to give you time to access and complete the Coach Award eLearning which is required to be done before you go to your assessment. Performance Coach candidates register at the start of their award as this then begins the process of matching them with their mentors.

  • What is the difference between Coach Award Check-In and Coach Award Registration?

You can register at any point of the Coach Award in order to access the Coach Award eLearning it only check tat you have membership and the appropriate age. We then need something that is confirmation that you have everything in place to go to assessment, which is where the check comes in. The Assessment Check In is done the same way as your registration but there is no further payment required and is then proof to your provider that you have all the necessary prerequisites to go to your assessment.

  • What is registration?

Registration is the method that you use to show you intend to study and go to an assessment for a particular qualification. It is needed for all Coaching and Leadership awards. This is separate to booking your place on the course with your provider. It is important that this is done before you go to your assessment as it is a prerequisite and it will mean that you are insured for all of the Coaching and Leadership activity you carry out on the day. It is also the means by which we give you access to any resources you need before the course such as the Just Add Water cards for Paddlesport Instructors or the Coaching Award eLearning.
